BIRDY NAM NAM - THE PARACHUTE ENDING

Check out this new video for “The Parachute Ending” by Birdy Nam Nam, a 4-man DJ crew from France made up of Crazy B, DJ Pone, DJ Need and Little Mike. They create striking compositions by layering beats, effects and melodies, each bringing in and distorting different sounds in the mix. The result is a rich blend of electro drums, crunchy bass and futuristic samples that produce a distinct style.
This crew gave rise to Birdy Nam Nam, a group of 4 scratchers training for the 2002 World Championship- which they won of course. Having garnered accolades and fame in the skill competition circuit, they began to focus on their live shows and on producing original tracks.

Birdy Nam Nam uses turntables as musical instruments. The group’s name is taken from a hilarious scene in the 1968 Peter Sellers classic The Party, directed by Blake Edwards.

Their self-titled debut album was released in 2006 on Uncivilized World Records, and in March of that year they performed at SXSW and arrived in the American market. They also released a great live album that sounds like a jamband with samples and scratching.

Their latest full-length “Manual For Successful Rioting” flows as one strange, continuous journey, homogeneous but never redundant. It’s their best and most polished work yet, a really unique and special album.

Don't know much about the duo called The Renaissance Man, other than they are Finland and they rock pretty hard. The latest remixes are dope and work well with newer sounding sets, who ever does the mastering has an ear we'll say the least. They've appeared at WMC a few times in Miami, FL and the newest releases are pressed by Dubsided. Thats good news!

Brasil Sensations 'The Twelves'

From Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, “The Twelves” were formed by the duo João Miguel and Luciano Oliveira back in 2005. The name came from the strange coincidence of their birth dates: 12th July 1980.
The breakthrough for The Twelves came in July of 2007 when they remixed the track “Boyz” from M.I.A’s sophomore album, Kala. The reworked track with an added club feel resulted in one of the most talked about remixes of 2007. The blog coverage surrounding the remix was extensive and eventually the track started to pop up in sets from high profile djs around the world, including Kissy Sell Out, who played it on BBC’s “In New Djs We Trust” series.

I like em because the remind me of a new age latin Daft Punk sorta. They just sound groovy and the basslines are realistic yet techy.

I like this new track from BURNS, but not as much as Turbo. It shows his style is flexible though, which is refreshing since alot of people play the same ole stuff and style of music. Also, we get a new video to match the single. The full length album is expected to drop soon in 2010 by March. BURNS, from the UK, keeps the same electro glitchy feel, but incorporates the classic, deep house, style with fast hi hats and 808 snares.

Call me a hater, but is this all really necessary? Boy, DONOVAN knows how to throw a release party! I tricked myself the other day and bought a vinyl from my homie Jason's shop called REMIX DALLAS on Elm Street downtown dallas in Deep Ellum. The record read 'Work It Baby,' and all I cared about was that the beat was rocking and it had a peculiar voice rapping on top. $11.99 dollars and twenty minutes later I'm jammin the tune at home and after closer examination I come to find out it's DONOVAN's new realease entitled Breakin featuring G.Rizo. on the WORK-IT-BABY.COM label. Hot stuff manor!

So I went to go see NADASTROM, the show was kickin! My first time catching the duo and what a treat to see them on tour right between their LA and Paris flight. Dallas, we got lucky on this one. Heard lots of new material that I'm sure is gonna take most of my time this week to hunt for, but thats half the fun. SHOUT OUT to my friend Gilbert, better known as DJ TITAN. TITAN held us down all the way untill 12:30 Sunday morning before NADASTRON hit the decks. Interesting set-up though, four CDJ1000s, two DJM800s and two laptops.

Okay, so this is like the fifth MELTDOWN this year I think. I've been really busy with the blogs, Ableton, Reason Record, various plug-ins/VSTs, making tracks, traveling, djing (oh yeah and working to pay the bills) that I forget when this thing is coming and when its going.

This time around looks like our headliner is none other than French DJ David Guetta on the festival for the Fearless Tour! Wikipedia writes "He is of Jewish Moroccan descent. In 2005, his single "The World Is Mine", which contains a sample of Simple Minds "Someone Somewhere In Summertime", topped European dance charts.[citation needed] Vocals for his songs have been performed by a variety of notable artists including Chris Willis, Cozi Costi, Kelly Rowland, Akon, and will.i.am."

He's got a good vibe with this new album entitled ONE LOVE. I have't heard more than two songs so far but I got word the pink Vinyl Album has a secret CD/DVD disc inside as a bonus to the buyer. That sounds like almost a better deal than the MELTDOWN concert prices, expect to pay at least $30-$35 walking up at the door, you can thank FULL ACCESS promotions and marketing for the price tag.

Anyways I've talked a lot of smack about the festival but its these kinds of gigs Dallas needs more of and I'm glad to say it will be held at the Palladium Ballroom on the south side. The venue is especially nice I think for electronic music and be it also houses the LOFT area upstairs you can look forward to place away from the crowd, that is if you carry VIP pass or smile really big and hope the doorman lets you in after you slip him a foled up twenty (damn, there goes our drinking money for the night.) About a dozen different electronic music concerts spread out around downtown yearly like ole MELTDOWN sounds like just the ticket! Just with a smaller price ticket preferably.

NEW YORK CITY, NY

I recently paid a trip to the big apple and had a great time. Saw lots of things, spent a lot of dough and came home with lots of souvineirs and a cold, all in five days. Pretty good. Well, I just had to give NY its props. This is gonna sound corny, but the city 'really' is huge and even though this was my third or fourth trip things still amaze me when I'm in the city. Its nice to get out of my city and see whats going on in other folks neck of the woods.

Central Park still a breath of fresh air with plenty weirdos lurking the bushes and cabs are better than last time I came. Brought home some cool items Little Italy and China Town. Even managed to ride the ferry to Staten Island on the most rainy day of our visit, wow.

I checked out a great spot on Wednesday night called Kiss&Fly nightclub on 13th Street in the Meatpacking District. I nice looking young woman we met down the street helped us find the place and was nice enough to get us in VIP without having to shell out an arm and a leg at the front door. MGMT seems to be a hit in NY, the crowd loved it. And people do less starring and more dancing not to mention. The DJ was solid, and the club just right, not too big, not too crowded.

It also surprises me to hear DJ Clue on the radio still these days, he played a classic off Nas' Illmatic album while I jammed the Hot97FM in the hotel room.

And what a treat is was to catch Paul Van Dyke on the Saturday right back in Central Park were our trip began. I actually found his concert flyer on the ground while walking about one day on the curb. Saved it and we took a train on over the 67th Street and walked the rest of the way. When we got there it was so loud, found a good spot busted out the Vodka out our backpack and jamed near the outside with some other party-goers. He sounds more 'house freindly' and less 'trancy' these days. Heard him play one of my favorite tracks out right now by Sebastian Ingrooso, Kidsos (who I also saw in Miami at MANSION nightclub this past WMC09 in Florida when he performed with The Swedish House Mafia.) It was magical. Gave some DJKC CDs mixes out that night at also. If you got one your lucky, only brought 200 with me to NY. Awesome night.

After four days of walking and eating on the run, we were exhausted, broke and ready to get home to our soft, clean, warm bed and sleep for a day two before getting back to the grind. New York, love ya.

It appears Moulinex is coming out with a new album/EP and it should be be good. I always liked the remix version of Cut Copy's 'Lights & Music.' They made me like the song even when it was being remixed by everyone at the time. They grab some kind of Euro-retro feel and pour it over arpeggio-synths, good synths I might add.

So i just saw this new vid from Mr.Oizo, its obviously not him but the chick who plays him is a kinda funny and seems like she could be a bi*ch in real life. (I can write whatever I want, nobody really reads this, right?)
Anyways yogurt, pineapples, and beef patties used for inspiration I guess. If it works, cool.
The new album is sick though, 'Cut Dick', 'Steroids', and even 'Shoes'(Mr.Oizo remix) off Tiga's new Ciao. I like the guy. And he's on Ed Banger so you know he has good people around him with all the tricks of the trade. What I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall inside that famous french studio. First of all, it had choice sounding drums which caught my ear right away. I spoke with Wanz Dover later and I was surprised to find out the drums weren't real after all. Whoa!
